Alvaro “Al” Rego, 98, of Anderson, passed away on August 31, 2012 at Community Northview Care Center.
He was born on February 28, 1914 in Fall River, Massachusetts and resided most of his life in Anderson, and Jacksonville, FL. He retired from Nicholson File after 34 years of service, working at the Providence, RI and Anderson, IN plants. Al was the oldest living member of the Knights of Columbus in Anderson. Al enjoyed fishing, golfing, and bowling. Al is survived by his son, George Flora Rego of Naples, FL, daughter, Linda Whitehouse of Anderson, IN, and sister, Margaret Couture of Fall River, MA. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Angelina Silvia Rego whom he married on September 2, 1935, father, Alvaro Rego Sr., mother, Margaret O. Bothello Rego, daughter, Carolyn A. Turner, brothers, John Rego and Manuel Rego. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Community Northview Care Center for taking excellent care of Al.
