Alvalene Kirkland Bicknell, 80, of Palatka, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka following an extended illness. She was a native of Broxton, GA, and moved to Palatka in 1952.
Alvalene was a counselor for alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs and served the medical community as an LPN at Columbia Community Hospital. She was a member of Salem Primitive Baptist Church in Lake City, FL. Her hobbies included shopping, walks on the beach, planting flowers, and drinking coffee on the back porch.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie R. and Ruby Kirkland; her husband, George H. Bicknell; her son, Michael Bicknell; brothers Billy Jo and Jerry Kirkland, and sister Betty Kite.
She is survived by her brother, James (Linda) Kirkland; special niece and nephew, Penny and Danny Baggs; three sons, Ricky (Jessica) Bicknell, James C (Amy) Kitaif, and Joey Kitaif. She has 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Alvalene was loved very much by many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
