Alta Odom Price Bass, 88, of Palatka, peacefully entered the Gates of Heaven, with her loving children at her side, Sunday, August 15, 2021, at North Florida Regional Hospital Gainesville, FL after an extended illness and natural causes. She was a native of Hastings and a lifelong resident of Palatka.

Alta was a Baptist and always involved in church. She had a beautiful voice and sang as a child with her sister Mary Odom Jones, around town and even on the radio. Her love of music was rooted in her Odom Family upbringing. Her children remember visiting Grandpa Odom’s Market and home in Hastings, and music was always being played, enjoyed, and celebrated whenever we were together. She carried her love of music with her and fostered a love of music and shined it bright for her children and families.

Her greatest gift was her unwavering love and devotion to her family. She was always there, for anyone, any pet, any friend, and child that needed to be loved. And the greatest gift was KNOWING that she would be there, with comfort, a meal, a shoulder, a back scratch, a $20 bill, or just a gentle calming peace that felt like home to anyone who knew her. She loved the Ravine Gardens, the River, the Beach, the fair, parades, gardening and flowers, thrift stores, animals, and anything else that was good family fun. She was always up for an adventure with her loved ones.

She spent her entire life caring for others, enjoyed cooking for holidays, and making life better for everybody that was around her. She enjoyed painting, dancing, camping, sewing, playing card games, and the piano, and enjoying life with a brightness that so many misses. She loved being outdoors and with her husband at his “tomato man stand’. She was quick with a joke to make you laugh when you wanted to cry. She Always loved Elvis, Frank, Tony, Englebert, Conway, Ronnie, Kenny, Patsy, Dolly, Roberta, Crystal, and any of the good, golden-voiced singers and bands.

She is preceded in death by her parents J. Arthur Odom and Stella Martin Odom, Brothers Dykes, “Shorty” (Tiny), Ray, and Hubert (Lillie) Odom, sisters Jimmie Clayton, Letha Espey, and Mary Odom Jones. Her husband of over 25 years Charles Howard Price, her beloved children Randall Price (Susie), Charles “Bud” Price, and Cynthia June Price Willis. Her 2nd husband, William Willis Bass, stepdaughters Gayle Goodrich, Glenda Dewkett, Vivian Hulgreen, and stepson Harrol Bass, Four grandbabies Charity Bass, Shelley Bass, Robbie Price, and Cynthia Burkhalter Boyette.

She is survived by her children, Pat Maxwell (Randy), Charlotte Price (Clay), Robert Price (Jennifer), Amy Price Stiglitz (Rob). Two stepsons, Billy and Kevin Bass, and three stepdaughters, Liz Pacetti, Darlene Butler, and Lisa Bass Mitchell. Numerous nieces and nephews, over 50 grandchildren, and great-grandbabies she dearly loved.
