Alma Mathewson Hinman, 85, wife of Lewis G. Hinman, Jr., passed away on March 27, 2008 at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in New York City she was the daughter of the late Paul and Alma (Lyman) Mathewson. Alma spent her early years in Westport, CT before moving to Durham. She attended Wheelock College and devoted her career to education as an elementary school teacher for 32 years. She taught in Venezuela, Hawaii, and Colorado Springs before finishing her career in Hartford, New Haven and Middletown schools.
