Alma Coleman Young, 97, of 67 Fairview Drive, Bassett, VA died Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Blue Ridge Manor, Martinsville, VA. She was born on November 13, 1913 in Franklin County, VA to the late Noel Coleman and Mary Mason Coleman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Reverend Mark Blair Young; son, David B.Young and brothers, Samuel Irvin Coleman and James Ryland Coleman. Mrs. Young was a member of Fort Trial Baptist Church, Stanleytown, VA. She was a member of the Fort Trial Baptist Church prayer chain, a member of the Prayer Group WMU, Senior Fellowship Sunday School Class and the Senior Citizen Group. Mrs. Young graduated from Moody Bible Institute Correspondence School in Chicago, IL. Surviving are her daughter, Iris J. Young of Knoxville, MD; daughter-in-law, Sharon Young of Myrtle Beach, SC; sister, Lucy Deel of Fincastle, VA; granddaughter, Holly Young Blake; step-grandchildren, Katherine Roberts and Billy Tysinger and great-grandchildren, Ashley Blake, Ryan Blake and Katie Blake.
