Allen Wagner, age 92, of Algona died on Wednesday May 20, 2015 at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. Allen, son of Michael and Anna (Zeimet) Wagner, was born on May 15, 1923 in Algona, Iowa. He graduated from St. Cecelia Academy in 1941 and served in the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean War. On May 12, 1947 he was united in marriage to Ruth Heerdt at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. He owned and operated Wagner’s DX Station and also worked as a city mail carrier, retiring in 1980. After a short retirement he became the caretaker of Iowa State Bank, retiring again in 2012. He was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church, a lifetime member of the American Legion, VFW and National Association of Letter Carriers. Allen enjoyed walking, word search puzzles, playing Euchre, riding his moped and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Left to cherish Allen’s memory are his daughters, Janice Rochleau and her husband Gary of Dallas Center, Iowa, Sharon Garrison and her husband Earl of Eau Claire, WI, Nancy Ramsey and her husband Ron of Eaton Rapids, MI, Patricia Hunt and her husband Gene of Algona and Marcia Fuerstenau and her husband Rick of Algona; a son, Michael Wagner and his wife Lori of Clear Lake, Iowa; eleven grandchildren, Brenda, Greg, Molly, Amy, Mindy, Mark, Beth, Mari, Adam, Ryan and Jena; eighteen great grandchildren, a sister, Leona Fleming of Fort Dodge and special friends, Leo & Mary Ann Kirschbaum and Gladys Thill. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Ruth; two sisters, Mary Neuroth and her husband Vic and Bernadette Godden and her husband Harvey; and a brother in infancy, Jerome Wagner.
