Allen Hays, age 67, of Salem, died Monday evening from cancer at his home. He was born November 6, 1948 in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Clarence “Bud” and Ruth (Huston) Hays.
He worked as a Custodian for Salem City Schools for 39 years. He was a 1967 graduate of East Palestine High School. Allen was a member of the Salem Elks Lodge #305, VFW Washingtonville Post 5532, and the American Legion.
He was a U.S. Army veteran during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia A. (Diamond) Hays whom he married March 13, 1971; a son, Thomas Allen (Traci) Hays of Salem; a daughter, Brenda Ann (Craig) Bodine of Salem; four sisters, Barbara (Paul) Denny of Columbiana, Susan (Bob) Merry of Salem, Gayla (Larry) Zimmerman of East Palestine, and Mary (Tom) Henry of New Waterford; a brother, Michael (Toni) Hays of East Palestine; three grandchildren, Sarai Bodine, and Camron Bodine, and Tommy Hays; and two step grandchildren, Hanna and Tyler Brooks.
