Alicia McDanel, age 35, of Godfrey, IL passed away on Friday, February 13, 2021. Alicia was born on August 4, 1985, in Alamosa, CO. When she was just over one year old her family moved to Bismarck, ND. They lived in North Dakota for 3 years.

In November of 1989, they moved to Montana where Alicia spent most of her life. She enjoyed the outdoors and loved hiking, camping, and exploring. She collected everything from rocks and sticks to the paper wrappers that restaurants use on their utensils. Even as a child she was a bit Obsessive-Compulsive. She had a strong personality and wanted things her way. As a child, she often told friends that disagreed with her that “it was time for them to go home”. She knew what she liked and wanted and would not settle for less. She was a good negotiator as well. She once made a deal with her dad for a trip to Yellowstone Park. He wanted to go but none of the family wanted to go with him. She agreed to go if he agreed to stop at every gift shop in the park; he agreed, and the adventure was on. Alicia began to explore the wild side of life in high school. This led to the addiction issues with which she struggled for the rest of her very short life. When Alicia realized she was pregnant with her first son, she stopped using drugs to ensure that he was a bright and healthy baby. The transformation was nothing less than a miracle. While at times she struggled with alcohol and drugs, she made sure to have healthy pregnancies and beautiful children. Alicia was looking to rekindle the nature of her youth and to teach her children the adventure and joy of exploration. She packed up and moved to Florida. Unfortunately, addiction is not something that can be left behind, even when starting a new adventure. While living in Florida addiction again reared its ugly head. Just 3 months after they arrived in Florida, she decided to join her father in Illinois. But alas, there too, addiction came back into her life and in the end, it took her life. Alicia was a loving mother who worked tirelessly to support her children and give them all of the love she had to give. Riley, Kooper, and Adela, you must always remember that above all things, your mother loved you.

Surviving Alicia are her parents, Gary McDanel of Godfrey, IL, and Adelita Trujillo of Harlowton, MT; three children, Riley Davis, Kooper Davis, and Adela Davis of Godfrey, IL; two sisters, Amelia McDanel of Portland, OR, and Faith Wheeler of Billings, MT; nephews, Aiden Worden of Billings, MT and Ian Worden of Billings, MT; and brother-in-law, Patrick Wheeler of Billings, MT.
