Dear Friends and Family,

We are writing to celebrate the life of Alice Stone, 87, of Melbourne, FL. Alice passed away peacefully on May 8 surrounded by family. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Les Stone, daughters Anne and Mary Ellen, daughter-in-law Kate Stone, sons-in-law Greg Bandi and Ron Amodeo, grandchildren Alyson, Samuel, Jackson, and Anna, and the loving nieces and nephews that she adored. She is preceded in death by son Dennis and siblings Samuel, Richard, Ruthann, and Marie.

After graduating from Stephens College, Class of 1953, Alice was recruited to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) secretarial corps in Washington, DC. There she met Navy SEABEE Les Stone who was stationed at Quantico. Les later wrote, “It was love at first sight. It really was – the first time we were introduced by Greta and Dick Roxburgh – and has continued to grow all these years. A.J. is not just a spouse, she is my very best friend. Everyone should be so lucky.”

“AJ and LW” created a warm and loving home, raising Anne Marie, Dennis Wayne (1959 – 2015), and Mary Ellen. Alice could sew anything to perfection, and had a passion for fabric, trim, and technique.

Alice and Les’ most recent years have been ones of great joy, making new friends, participating in Elder Hostel trips, traveling in their RV, reading, teaming up on the daily crossword, and watching the array of birds claiming residence or passing by their home at Indian River Colony Club in Melbourne Florida. If these years could go on and on, we would have them do so.

As Alice once wrote to a niece, “Life has been good to me – I love it and I love all of you.”
