Alice Mary May, age 92 of Algona, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019.

Alice Mary May, the daughter of John and Helen (Freese) Youngwirth, was born on April 18, 1926, in Wesley. She attended school in Wesley graduating in 1944. On May 8, 1945, Alice was united in marriage to Richard (Dick) May at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wesley. She enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her children. Alice was a member of numerous card clubs. She was also an avid reader, crossword puzzle, and trivia fan. Alice was active in St. Cecilia’s parish where she worked with the Women’s Club and attended weekly Adoration for many years. She loved any social activities with her friends and family. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Maxine (Darrell) Rusher of Algona, Jean (Tom) Arnold of St. Petersburg, FL, Joni (Michael) Farris of Rosemount, MN, Lynne (Calvin) Eilers of Urbandale, and Julie (Larry) Hamling of Urbandale; twelve grandchildren, David, Dan, Alan, Angie, Mike, Tony, Melissa, Ryan, Ashley, Erica, Erin and Cory, and twelve great-grandchildren; Raidyn, Jazlyn, Ben, Gabe, Olivia, Jordan, Alyssa, Michael, Alexander, Sophia, Jonathan, and Elliott. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard (Dick) May; her parents, and seven siblings. Memorials may be directed towards St. Cecelia Catholic Church in honor of Alice.
