Alice Isabella Shepperd Chapin, 93, was born at home during a Nebraska blizzard on a farm near Mills, Nebraska on January 12, 1919. She attended rural schools as a child and boarded in town to attend high school. After graduating in 1936, she attended Nebraska State Teachers College and taught rural schools in Nebraska and South Dakota for 8 years. She married William Chapin in 1939. To this union, two children were born; William Jr. in 1941 and Eloise Alice in 1943.
The family moved to Colorado in 1957. Alice lived in Colorado the remainder of her life. Alice worked as a bookkeeper for over 20 years at Hested’s Department Store and also sold real estate.
