Alice F. Hartshorn, 76, of Galesburg, died at 8:12 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville.Alice was born August 4, 1942 in Galesburg. Alice married Roger J. Hartshorn on June 26, 1982 in Galesburg. He survives of East Galesburg.
Alice is also survived by one daughter, Sherri (Keith) Milka of Cedar Lake, IN; four sons, Aaron (Amanda) Hight of Bradford, Russell Hight, Jeff Hight, and Ronnie Vancil all of Galesburg; two step children, Amy Mathews and Chard Hartshorn, both of Galesburg; and two sisters, Carol Haynes of Galesburg and Connie Kelso of Knoxville. Alice is also survived by her 13 grandchildren, Shelli (Matt) Brennan, Levi (Geraldine) Roe, Jake Milka, Cody Darby, Ryan Darby, C.J. Darby, Nathan Hight, Jessica Hight, Elizabeth Hight, Nicole (John) Roy, Alyssa (Anthony) Baker, Logan Mathews, and Cheyenne Mathews; and 20 great grandchildren.
Alice was preceded in death by her mother, Helen (Nee Hoff) Haynes; grandmother, Alice Hoff; and an aunt Pauline Hoff.One of Alice’s great joys in life was caring for people. She was a Registered Nurse for many years in Galesburg, working for the Galesburg Research Hospital and later Helen and Meades. She then worked for several years in private home nursing until her retirement in 2007. Alice enjoyed watching t.v. especially, I Love Lucy and Golden Girls. She enjoyed eating, especially sweets, going on walks, reading, and attending church.Cremation rites will be accorded.
