Escanaba, MIAlice Amelia Badgett, 93, of 2201 23rd Avenue South, Escanaba, passed away Saturday evening February 11, 2017 at the Community Living Center in the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain.

Alice was born March 2, 1923 in Seymour, WI the daughter of John and Esther (Gulseth) Wagner. Her family owned a cheese factory in Foster City and she graduated from Felch High School. Following graduation she moved to Chicago, IL to work in a U.S. Defense Plant. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943 where she met her future husband, LCDR James Badgett. Following their marriage, they lived in many locations during James’ military career. They eventually settled in Memphis, TN. Alice moved to Escanaba in 1982 following the death of her husband.

Alice was a member of the Escanaba American Legion and Women of the WAVES. She enjoyed her trip with her son David, on one of the first U.P. Honor Flights to Washington D.C. Her hobbies included golfing, reading and spending time with her family.

Sister: Barbara (Karl) Bosk of Escanaba, MI

Sister-In-Law: Ruth Wagner of Hardwood, MI

Grandchildren: Samantha (Eric) Galle, Chelsea (Jace) Dalgord and Jack (Stacie) Badgett

Great Grandchildren: Adalyn, Peyton and Callen Galle and Blake Badgett

Many nieces, nephews and cousins; many friends, including her wonderful caregivers at the VA Community Living Center.

In addition to her parents, her husband James, brothers, Richard and Robert Wagner, sisters, Opal Richards, Violet Pearson and grandson, Zachary Badgett preceded Alice in death.
