Alfred Wilkins was born February 21, 1964, in Columbus, Ohio to Albert and Victoria (Hough) Wilkins. Alfred passed away May 31, 2023, as a result of a tragic accident. He was the third child of five in a loving and close-knit family. While Alfred’s life may have been cut short, he touched the lives of many while he was with us.
Alfred attended Livingston Avenue Elementary School, Roosevelt Jr. High, and graduated from Central High School in 1982 (this was the last graduating class for Central). He was a 3-sport varsity athlete in high school; football, track and was a City Champ in wrestling and State Qualifier. With a love for music, Alfred and his friends formed a band in high school. Self-taught, he played the trumpet, trombone, sax, and keys. Alfred attended Central State University then joined the Army Reserve from 1983-1986 as a Motor Transportation Specialist. He got started in the construction business working with his father at Sinacola and Sons Excavating Co. as a heavy equipment operator. He worked for Reitter Stucco and Mid-Ohio Contractors honing his skills even further. He then ventured out and started his own construction business.
Alfred had many gifts and talents, but he was most proud of his construction business that he started 30 years ago. He initially named it, “Wilkins Stucco and Stone” and changed it to “Wilkins and Sons.” He was excited about his business and teaching his sons, grandsons, nephews and even his granddaughters the trade. His dream legacy was to continue to build his business and pass it on to his children.
Alfred was a devoted son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend to many. He cherished his relationship of 14 years with his sweetheart and fiancé, Angela Green. He was very caring and would not hesitate to give you the shirt off his back. Alfred loved sports and coached little league wrestling and football (Little Buckeyes and Red Devils) for more than 30 years and was a strong mentor and father figure to the young men. He was affectionally called, “Coach Al.”
Alfred’s passing certainly grieves the hearts of family and friends. We take comfort in the Word of The Lord that he is absent from the body and present with the Lord. He is preceded in death by his father, Albert Wilkins and sister, Vickie Diane Wilkins-Cofield.

Bonus children and grandchildren, Christina (Eric) Thompson, Katrina Megerle, Christopher (Darius) Green, Keshawn Green; Eric, Camih, Cire
Brothers, Allen (TeQuilia) Wilkins, Alvin Wilkins; Sister, Mary (Dwayne) Howard; Nieces, Paula Wilkins, Tikisha Clark, Cyra Wilkins, Christina Thomas; Nephews, Brandon and Julian Howard, Paul Wilkins, Craig Fowlkes, Charles Thomas, Robert Kelley III; a host of great nieces & nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Lifelong friend Richard Lewis, who was like a brother to Alfred.
