Alfred Phil Carbone was 92 when he passed on Sunday, January 5th at his home in New Milford. Born in Manhattan, Phil lived there until he and his late wife Julia settled in New Milford in 1967. A proud Army Veteran and member of the VFW Post 4290, New Milford he served in the South Pacific Theater as a US Army Buck Sargent, Combat Engineers, during World War II from 1942-1946. After the War, Phil worked most of his life for the City of New York as a Sanitation Foreman at the Manhattan Garage, 106th and 2nd Avenue. After retiring from the City of New York he worked for the New Milford Police Department as a crossing guard for many years. Phil was predeceased by his late wife Julia Capozzoli in 1999. He was the loving father of daughter Marie Barrentine and husband Jim, son Ronald Carbone and wife Dora, and son Alfred Carbone Jr. and wife Theresa. He was predeceased by his late sister Rose Russo and late brother Sam Carbone. Phil was the cherished grandfather of Julie Ann, Kelly, Alicia, Gregory, Jeffrey, Regina, Anthony, and Joe. The adored great-grandfather of Kyle, Bella, and Lily.
