Alfred Frederick Andersen of Plymouth, died peacefully in his home, surrounded by the love of his family, as he went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 20th. He is the beloved husband of Miriam ‘Mim’ R. (Hayward) Andersen. Born in Maplewood, New Jersey on April 24, 1944, son of the late Alfred and Agnes (Vail) Andersen. He grew up in Maplewood, New Jersey and went on to graduate from Northeastern University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering followed by a Master’s Degree in Engineering Management. Al was a long-time employee of Badger Engineers (Raytheon Engineers and Constructors) managing large petrochemical projects around the world, finishing his career as VP and General Manager of European was an active member of New Hope Chapel in Plymouth, serving as an Elder and in many other capacities. He taught classes in international business at Eastern Nazarene College and engineering management at Northeastern University. He was active with the charities Foundation for Haitian Development and Engineers without Borders, traveling to Haiti and Mexico to design and build roads, schools, and water treatment. Al was an active outdoorsman who enjoyed kayaking, hiking in the White Mountains, camping, white water rafting, and he previously served as a Boy Scout Leader. He also enjoyed reading, pickleball and cycling. Al loved traveling, he lived for 10 years in The Netherlands and visited dozens of countries in Europe, Asia, and Africa. He and Mim had a deep love of Maine and vacationed there yearly.Besides his loving wife Mim, he is survived by his son, Douglas A. Andersen, and his partner Julia Kellogg of Seattle, Washington, his daughter Rebecca A. Provost and her husband Christopher, grandchildren Emily Grace and Noah Christopher of Wilmington, MA. He was the brother of Joanne McMahon of California , Roberta Costain of North Carolina, and Nancy Andersen of New Jersey.
