Mr. Alfred D. Stewart was born January 17, 1949 in Dawson, GA. He is one of five children born to the late Releford and Redessa Stewart.

He attended Duval county public schools, graduating from Matthew W. Gilbert, class of 1967. In 1980 he obtained his certification in Business Management from Jacksonville University. He was drafted in the Army in May 1968, where he served two years tour of duty in Germany. He was honorably discharged in May 1970 as a disabled veteran.

He worked for John H. Harland check printers for 27 years. First as a press operator, then promoted to night shift supervisor and later as day shift supervisor. He retired from John Harland in 1999 after the company closed the Jacksonville plant. He later obtained his CDL license and worked for Jacksonville Transit Authority for 5 years as a bus operator. He then worked as a school bus driver for Duval county schools, where he retired for good in June 2012.

In addition to his parents, Alfred was predeceased by brothers, Walter Stewart and Michael Stewart.

Mr. Stewart passed away Thursday, June 4, 2020 surrounded by loved ones following a brief illness with lung cancer.
