Alexander J. Slomski, 93, of New Britain, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2014. He was the beloved husband of the late Genevieve (Deptula) Slomski. Born in New Britain, he was a longtime resident and a member of Holy Cross Church where he was very active in the church community and activities. Alexander was a very proud man and lived very simply, always willing to lend a helping hand. Al had a gentle and kind nature and he loved his family. He would never refuse helping his children or family with anything they needed. Alexander’s accomplishments are many, and those who spent time with him see his contributions everywhere. One special point of interest are the Stations of the Cross which Al made that are placed throughout the grounds of Mary Immaculate Academy in New Britain. A loving and devoted father and grandfather he leaves his daughter Celeste (Slomski) Cashman of Colchester, his two sons, David Slomski and his wife Corrine of Newington and Paul Slomski and his wife Melissa of Colchester, eight grandchildren, Kevin Williams, Kathy Williams Cochrane, Michael Williams, David Joseph “DJ” Slomski, Melissa Slomski Knee, Zachary, Jacob and Lucas Slomski. He was predeceased by his daughter Hedy (Slomski) Williams and many siblings. Al’s family would like to thank the caretakers at Bel Air Manor in Newington for their care and compassion and treating them like extended family.
