Alex Curtis, 67, of Scottsdale, Arizona, passed away at home on April 19, 2021. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts, the second of three children born to Jane and Ned Curtis. At age 5, his family moved to Arizona where he attended Orme Preparatory School and Paradise Valley High School. While attending Orme, he lettered as a freshman on the varsity football team and won the “All Around Cowboy” title at their 1970 annual rodeo. Alex had a love of cars and a talent for anything mechanical. He began working as a mechanic right out of high school where he learned how to machine for the automotive industry. He opened his first shop at age 23 where he transitioned into machining for the aerospace industry. Over the years, he earned a well-respected reputation for his knowledge, critical problem solving, and the determination to meet and exceed the highest industry standards of accuracy and quality, which is still recognized today. His favorite project to do was always the one that no one else would consider taking on. His life’s passion was classic cars and vintage car racing, which began at an early age while watching his Dad race. Alex followed his Dad’s footsteps into racing and his favorite track was always the one he was currently on – although Laguna Seca was always at the top of the list. Alex has joyfully reunited in heaven with his son Paul, his parents and grandparents, and very dear racing friends. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Corina, 3 sons, Eric (Jen), Brad (Aaron), and David Curtis and Michael (Emily) Whipple, Lisa (Cory) Langford, and Tanner (Robyn) Whipple, and 11 grandchildren.
