Alexander “Al” Haas, age 57 of Collinsville, IL, passed away on August 28, 2020 at his residence with his loving family by his side. Al was born June 1, 1963 in East St. Louis, Illinois. Al was employed as a laborer at Labor Local 44 in Collinsville. Prior to being a proud union worker, he was employed at Fairmont Racetrack for over 30 years. He enjoyed working and will be remembered as being a workaholic.
Al was very much an outdoors man and loved nature. His favorite past time was fishing, hunting and taking walks in the woods enjoying nature. On the weekends you could find him working at his Clubhouse and drinking coffee on the front porch. He enjoyed playing horseshoes for over 20 years. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed. Al made friends wherever he went, and his conversation and stories will be cherished by all who met him. Al was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marie Haas, nee Brewer.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Linda Haas, to whom he shared his life with for over 39 years, and they have shared 36 years of marriage; his two daughters, Natalie Hays of Collinsville, Illinois and Katie Seib of Collinsville, Illinois; four sisters, Johna Maxwell of Georgia, Irene (Don) Coffey of Indiana, Loretta (Pat) Pittman of Georgia and Stephanea (Shelby) Boyce of Illinois, and one brother, John L. (Susan) Haas of Tennessee; three grandchildren, Jesse Fuentes, IV of Collinsville, Illinois, Jocelynn Fisk of Collinsville, Illinois and Leela Fisk of Collinsville, Illinois. He is also known as “Uncle Al” by several nieces, nephews and friends.
