Alex Gotavaskas, 93, of New Britain passed away on Monday, August 13, 2012 at The Hospital of Central CT, New Britain. He was the beloved husband of the late Frances (Pixton) Gotavaskas. Alex was born in Shenandoah, PA; he was the son of the late John and Rose (Kervalis) Gotavaskas. Alex retired from Stanley Works after 25 years of service and then from the New Britain Board of Education. Alex was a U.S. Army veteran; he served his country honorably during World War II. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion in New Britain. Alex is survived by his children, Elaine Gotavaskas of North Carolina, Susan Shepard of Vermont, Sandra Gotavaskas and Tony Gotavaskas both of Manchester, CT; his seven grandchildren, Spencer, Christopher, Jonathan, Anthony, Alisha, Gilman and Hannah and three great-grandchildren Alexandra, Veronica and Christina. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a reception on Thursday, Aug. 16th, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the V.F.W. Hall, 41Veterans Dr.
