Alberta Lea Birdie Ferris, 58, of Jacksonville, September 9, 2007, at St. Johnâ??s Hospital in Springfield.
She was born Feb. 21, 1949, in East St. Louis, the daughter of Dallas and Virginia Yowell Peifer. She married Robert Michael Ferris on June 17, 2000, in Jacksonville and he survives.She is also survived by one daughter, Tracey (husband, Luke, Sr.) Marquard of Jacksonville; two stepdaughters, Lisa Swisher (friend, Ron Peterson) of Jacksonville and Polly A. (husband, Bob) Mowry of Ashland; nine grandchildren, Jennifer (husband, Chris) Loeffelholtz of Jacksonville, Luke Marquard, Jr. (fianc©, Tonya Roberts) of Jacksonville, Brian (wife, Sarah) Marquard of Shiro, Texas, Airman First Class Ashley Armstrong of Anchorage, Alaska, Lance Cpl. Matt Armstrong of Cherry Point, N.C., Private First Class Mike Armstrong of Cherry Point, N.C., Shaun Swisher of Jacksonville, Ally Ferris of Ashland and David Mowry of Ashland; fourteen great-grandchildren; and three brothers and two sisters. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Shawn A. Marquard.
Mrs. Ferris had worked for fifteen years at CRâ??s Drive-In in Jacksonville, and was currently working at Hobby Horse Child Care Center, and took pride in making sure all the children knew they were loved. She was an active member of the Jacksonville Women of the Moose. Birdie loved everything butterfly, Elvis, purple and auto racing. She loved life, and her greatest pride was her daughter, grandchildren and family.
