Newark – Alberta Howard, 76 of Edgett Street died Friday, May 17, 2002, finally free of her long struggle with Parkinson disease which she endured for many years.
Family and friends may call Thursday (May 23) from 6-8 at the Norman L.
Mrs. Howard was born the daughter of Albert and Anna Gnage Cheeseman on January 1, 1926 in Newark, New York. She married Whitney H. Howard on June 12, 1948. Mrs. Howard graduated from Newark High School in 1943 and Rochester General Hospital Nursing School in 1946. She enjoyed a long career at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital first as a surgical nurse and later as the Asst. Director of Nursing.
Mrs. Howard is survived by her son Mark Howard of Arizona; daughters April Howard of N. Tonawanda and Cynthia VerDow of Clifton Springs; sister June Kubetzka of NJ; nieces Anne Boone, Peggy (Wil) Simpkins, Roberta (Ed) Nevin-Owell & Mary (Ben) Lisitski; several great nieces & nephews. .
Mrs. Howard was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Whitney on September 5, 1998 and son-in-law Rodney VerDow on September 9, 2001.
