Alberta Carter, was born Monday, January 16, 1939 in Teague Texas to the late Lee Carter and Annie Lee Palmore. She attended Furney Richardson High School in Teague, TX. Alberta left peacefully in her home on Wednesday, February 19, 2014. Alberta’s pride and joy were her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was a caregiver to her parents and her uncle Sam. She was preceded in death by her mother: Annie Lee Moore, and stepfather: Walter Lee Moore, her daughter: Beverly, niece: LaTasha, and nephew: Frank.
Alberta was an active member of Pilgram Rest Baptist Church; she was part of the Choir in years past and in more recent years she was part of Mission 2, and she attended Sunday school. She enjoyed going to Bible study on Wednesdays with her sister Josie and friends. Alberta had a passion for shopping and loved Saturday morning garage sales. She had a green thumb and could grow anything. She was a beautiful seamstress making clothes for her daughter and niece. She worked many years as a claims examiner in the insurance industry. Alberta was also a member of the community Recreation Center and enjoyed participating in its many activities which included exercising weekly and trips to various venues in the Dallas area. She was so proud of her nephew Brandon, for serving his country in the United States Air Force. She also loved watching her great niece Kierra play basketball at Texas Tech, in France and then in Germany. She was most proud of her grandchildren for attending and graduating college. Alberta will be loved and remembered by her family and friends.
The family members left to cherish her memory include her son: Zachary Lynn Carter; daughter: Theresa Bolden; son in-law: Marvin Bolden; grandchildren: Tamika and Jason Bolden; sisters: Josie Houston, Delilah McCloud, Glenda Carter and Denise Pollard; niece: Melodye Powers; nephews: Brandon McCloud, Jared and Robert Pollard; great niece: Kierra; and great nephew: Patrick.
