Alberta Bennett, age 79 formerly of Ottosen, passed away on July 27th, at her summer home in Grimes, Iowa. Alberta Jean Claude Bennett was born July 26th, 1942, to Albert John Claude and Erma (Mason) Claude at Clarion, IA. She received her education at Clarion High School, graduating with the class of 1960. Alberta married Thomas Bennett in 1960. They settled in Ottosen, Iowa, in 1962. The Bennetts are parents of Tim, Dan, Scott, Steveand Gina. Alberta enjoyed reading, knitting, movies, camping, bus trips, and spectator sports. Her Mason side of the family called Alberta “Jeannie”, since childhood. Alberta was active in her community, church, and school, volunteering at various times. She was a Cub Scout den mother, Sunday school teacher, leader of Ottosen Kids (OK) Club, and was chairmen of several community celebrations. Continuing her love for babies and young children, she enjoyed the one-on-one visits with eleven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Left to cherish Alberta’s memory are her husband, Tom; children: Tim (Lisa) Des Moines, Dan (Sheila) Algona, Scott (Blanca) Von Ormy, TX, Steve Kansas City, Missouri and Gina Hale (Scott) of Polk City; grandchildren: Joel (Amanda), Ben (Amber), Bailey (Kyle); Brittney (Logan), Bradley, Brooke (Ryan), Douglas (Taylor), Taylor (Rachel), Allison, Emily and Malachi; great grandchildren: Isla, Wells, Whit, Stella, Dean, Emilia, Dawsyn, Kylee, Nora, Amiah, Gage, Jordan, Riley, Meadow, Arjuna, Ezekiel and Sage and her brother, Ron (Eileen) Claude of Ankeny. Preceding in her passing are Alberta’s parents, Albert and Erma Claude; sister Lois Whipple Davis and granddaughter Cassie Marie Bennett.
