Albert “Whitey” Swan Gronholm, 84, of Cromwell, husband of the late Marie (Beemer) Gronholm and the late Betty (Linsley) Gronholm, passed away on Monday, December 6th at Middlesex Hospital. Born in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Bertel and Vega (Swan) Gronholm. Albert had lived in Cromwell and Middletown most of his life and was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. He was a Constable for the Town of Cromwell, a volunteer with the Cromwell Fire Department and a volunteer with the Middletown EMT’s. Albert also worked for the State of Connecticut for many years. He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Caso and her husband, Nick “Herb” of Cromwell whom he lived with; a stepson, Richard Linsley and his wife, Charlene of Meriden; two grandchildren, Robin Borent and her husband, Greg of Middletown and Bonita Caso and her fiancé Rick Wacht of Enfield; a brother, Roy Gronholm and his wife, Anna of Moodus; several nieces and nephews and his two best friends, Lucky and Jasmine. Besides his wives and parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Gertrude Oshinkowski and Alva Kissman. Albert’s family would like to thank the staff of Middlesex Hospice and Apple Rehab in Rocky Hill for all their kindness and wonderful care they gave Albert.
