Woonsocket

Albert G. Champagne Sr. 90, of Parkview Manor died Tuesday, June 19 in the Philip Hulitar Center in Providence. He was born in Woonsocket, one of ten children of the late Paul and Marie (Cloutier) Champagne. Albert was a professional boxer in his early years and later a local business owner for many years, and was the owner /operator of Champagne’s Lounge and Al’s Place, both in Woonsocket. He retired in 1993. He was the former husband of the late Evelina (Peloquin) Champagne to whom he was married for over fifty years. He is survived by five sons: Albert Champagne Jr.  and Alan Champagne of Blackstone, David Forcier of  Las Vegas, Marc Champagne of  WA, and Bryan Champagne of Bellingham, six daughters: Elaine Leduc of PA, Leona Fontaine, Luanne Romero, Donna Champagne, and Cate Fontaine all of Woonsocket, and Alice Daigle of Cumberland. He was also the father of the late Maureen Doyon and Linda Quinley. He was the beloved grandfather of many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Albert was predeceased by all nine of his siblings.
