Albert E. Spencer, 84, resident of Harrisville, where he lived most of his life.
Died on August 29, 2006 at V.A. Medical Center in Providence.
Husband of Miriam (Jolley) Spencer.
He was born in Nasonville, RI.
Son of the late Ernest and Flora (Ricard) Spencer.
He worked for the US Dept. of Defense in Boston MA. retiring in 1989. He also worked in area textiles. He was a graduate of Burrillville High School and RI School of Design, where he received a degree in textile engineering. An enlisted veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII, and former POW, captured during the Battle of the Bulge. He escaped from his German captors in April 1945 . A member of the Wallum Lake Rod & Gun Club, American Legion Post #17 and the VFW. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and caring for his flower gardens. Survivors include son-Albert E. Spencer Jr. of Harrisville, RI, daughters Margaret S. Egan of North Scituate, RI, and Louise Steele, of Laverne, CA, brother Ralph Spencer, grandchildren Nicole, Peter, and Samantha Spencer, Emily Egan, Jessica Contreras, Charles Lopez, and great granddaughter Shyla Contreras. He was the brother of the late William Spencer.
