Albert “Al” David Cummings, 81, of Middletown, beloved husband of Jean (O’Brien) Cummings for fifty-nine years, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Middlesex Hospital. Born in Middletown, he was the son of the late Augustus and Doris (Snyder) Cummings. Al lived in Middletown all of his life. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Air Force. He worked as a Police Officer for the City of Middletown for sixteen years. He was a member of Oddfellows and of the American Legion. Al was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will always be remembered for his great sense of humor and storytelling. Along with his wife, Al is survived by his son, Allen D. Cummings of Middletown; three daughters, Colette M. Coleman and her husband, Michael of Westford, MA, Janet A. Argenta of Cromwell and Jennifer Lynne Ternullo and her husband, Joseph of Middletown; a brother, Richard Cummings and his wife, Laurie of Newington; sister-in-law, Betty Cummings of Littleton, CO; five grandchildren whom he adored, Jamie-Lynn, Devin, Danielle, Joseph and Cailin and many nieces and nephews.. Two brothers, Augustus Cummings, II and Warren J. Cummings and his sister, Dorothy Roberts, also predeceased him.
