DISMUKES, Albert Dix, 88, of Fort Walton Beach, passed away Sunday May 29, 2016. CMSgt. (Ret.) Dismukes was born in Elmore County Alabama on December 28, 1927 to the late Aubrey Cortez Dismukes and Issalee Dix Dismukes. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force for over 20 years. When Congress and the Air Force created the rank of Chief Master Sergeant (E9) in 1959 to address the need for enlisted personnel with high technical ability and leadership skills, he was one of 625 men selected from 58,000 candidates for promotion to this new rank. This is one of the most significant events in the Air Force enlisted history and the inaugural group of Chief Master Sergeants are known as the “Charter Chiefs.
In 2011 he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Jimmie May. Together they raised a family of six sons, Alan, James, Mart, Rodney, Jeffrey and Gary. He is survived by five of his sons; three daughters-in-law, Jamie, Pam, and Dana; six grandchildren, Elena, Ryan, Kyla, Max, Emma and Bailey; and one great-granddaughter, Naomi. Of his seven brothers and sisters, he is survived by his brother Dan Dismukes of Prattville, AL and a host of nieces, nephews, and other close family members. He will be greatly missed by his family and all others who loved, honored, and respected him.
