Albert Carpenter Jr., age 84, of Ashland, died Monday November 21, 2011 at Brethren Care Village. Mr. Carpenter was born October 22, 1927, in Akron, the son of Albert Poe and Lillian Fern (Gates) Carpenter. Mr. Carpenter had been a resident of Ashland most of his life. He retired from the U- Brand Foundry after 51 years where he was the Maintenance Supervisor; he had previously worked for the Garber Brothers Corp. Mr. Carpenter was a member of the 20 Plus Club at U –Brand. He had been an avid Bowler. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events including Baseball, Basketball and his favorite Football. He also had always enjoyed being very helpful to all especially his family. Mr. Carpenter had come to know the Lord through his Pastor Janet Chilcote.
On May 19, 1950 Albert married Rosetta Irene (Hood) Carpenter who preceded him in death. Survivors include his daughter and son in-law, June and Juan Obregon of Georgia; his sons and daughters in- law, Jerry and Karen Carpenter of Ashland, Jeff and Barbara Carpenter of Ashland; his 5 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brother and sister in- law, Tom and Irene Carpenter of Xenia; his sister Betty Garver of East Liverpool; along with his dog Abby.
