Albert Banwart, 95. Albert Roy Banwart, the son of Joseph and Ella (Cordill) Banwart, was born September 14, 1917, in Hancock, Minnesota. He was raised and received his education in the Fort Scott, Kansas area. After serving in the United States Navy during World War II, he moved to the West Bend, Iowa area. On February 8, 1947, Albert was united in marriage to Betty Rose Zaugg in West Bend, IA. The couple lived and farmed in the West Bend area. Since 2012, Albert had been a resident of the West Bend Care Center. Survivors include sons Wayne (Charlen) of Champaign, IL, Daniel (Kathy) of Forrest, IL, Leo (Tami) of Yarmouth, IA; daughters Rebecca (Andy) Virkler of West Bend, IA, Rose (Wayne) Grimm of West Bend, IA, Sue (Charles) Schneider of Elgin, IA and Sandra (Lon) Butikofer of Manchester, IA; 23 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren, 7 step-great grandchildren; and sisters Helen Zaugg of West Bend, IA Irene Kaiser of Morton, IL and Ruth Bahr of Fort Scott, KS He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, brothers Earl, Glen and Clarence; one grandchild Jerry Butikofer and one great grandchild Matea Stoller.
