Albert went home to be with his Lord on January 27, 2016 at the age of 85. Al was born July 24, 1930 in Kalamazoo the son of Isaac and Clarice (Loveland) LeRoy. He was a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo and had served with the U.S. Army in Korea from 1951-52. Al worked as a carpenter most of his life and retired from the WMU Maintenance Department. He was a member of the Third Reformed Church. Al enjoyed working on his carpentry projects, in his yard and garden, but the most important part of his life was spending time with his family.
On November 4, 1955 he was united in marriage to Mary VerMeulen and they had celebrated their 60th anniversary last fall. Surviving in addition to his wife Mary are his children Thomas LeRoy and Janet Scheffers; grandchildren Jenna LeRoy, Erin LeRoy, Kelsey LeRoy, Tracee Scheffers, BJ Scheffers (Sarah Mooney), Brandon Smith (Chelsea Ferchow), Cory Jager (Jessica Sutton); a great-granddaughter Kyleigh Gibbs; siblings Arthur (Patricia) LeRoy, Suzanne (William) Weinberg, Ann Marie (Robert) Bommersbach, Lynda (Tim) Squires, Richard (Phyllis) LeRoy and many nieces and nephews.
Al was preceded in death by a daughter LuAnn Jager in 1997; also by two brothers, David and Leonard LeRoy.
