Alan John Davies, 88, of Ridgefield, Connecticut, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, after a long illness. He was the loving husband of Beatrice (Broad) Davies and beloved father to Candice and Ainsley.

Alan was born in Manchester, England on September 20, 1933. He was the son of the late John and Winifred Susan (Danson) Davies. The oldest of four children, who had a lifelong desire for learning. Alan’s interest in learning took him to Manchester University where he worked on the Altas mainframe computer in the 1960’s, at the time the most powerful computer in the world.

A Ridgefield resident for the past 15 years, Alan previously resided in Brookfield and before that Staten Island, New York. He was a voracious reader and spent much of his spare time at the Brookfield and Ridgefield Libraries. He enjoyed New York Times crossword puzzles and could complete them with ease. He loved cars and his prized possession in retirement was his 1998 Ford Mustang GT. He had a love for animals, especially dogs. His great joy in retirement was taking long walks with his beloved dogs, Scooter and Emeline.

Alan is survived by his wife of 61 years, Beatrice, and their two daughters: Candice Davies and Ainsley Davies and her partner, Christopher Morgan. In addition, Alan is survived by 3 grandchildren: Andrew Walter, Leo Amari, and Luke Amari, as well as two sisters: Maureen Aked of Australia, and Sandra and her husband Tim Glazier of Manchester, England and his nephew Jeff DiMiceli and his wife Shelley of Michigan.
