Alan Fredrick Carlsen
March 15, 1951 – December 15, 2021
On December 15, 2021, Alan Fredrick Carlsen passed away at the age of 70. Alan was born on March 15, 1951, in San Antonio, Texas, to his parents, Fredrick Evan and Alice Marcus Carlsen. Alan spent his youth growing up in Layton, Utah. He was a graduate of Davis High School and obtained Finance and Accounting degrees from the University of Utah. Alan proudly served in the United States Army at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama and later retired from the U.S. Army Reserves as a Captain.
Alan was employed as an internal auditor at Thiokol Corporation, the Federal Reserve Bank and the State of Utah. He married Patricia Ann Frye on June 14, 1980. While living in Seattle, Washington, they were blessed with their wonderful son, John Adam Carlsen. Although they later separated, Alan and Pat always made raising Adam their top priority. Alan was a kind and loving father and traveled with Adam on many vacations across the United States. Their final trip together was a memorable visit to Alaska. Alan’s thoughtfulness and gentle demeanor lives on in his son.
Alan also enjoyed martial arts and ballroom dancing. He had a lifelong interest in cars and frequently attended car shows.
Alan will forever be remembered by his family and friends. He will be sorely missed by those who survive him and love him most; his son, John Adam Carlsen (Willard, Utah) and brother, Franklin Evan Carlsen (Layton, Utah). He also leaves behind nephew, Lt. Cmdr. Kevin Carlsen (Arnold, Maryland) and niece, Erika Carlsen (Salt Lake City, Utah). Alan was preceded in death by his parents.
In recognition of their professionalism and compassionate care of our loved one, the Carlsen family expresses their gratitude and thanks to Avalon Care Center and Matthew Myers and Greg Myers of Myers Mortuary in Brigham City, Utah. We appreciate their immeasurable kindness and support at this difficult time.
