Aida Kruymel, 103, of Brighton, passed away October 23, 2012. She was born in Costa Rica to Jose and Betsabe (Martin) Escalante on October 28, 1908. She was raised by a very prominent family in Costa Rica and attended grammar school in Cartago, Costa Rica. She continued her education to study Art in San Jose, Costa Rica and remained in Costa Rica until the age of 40.
She later married Carlos Kruymel in Petaluma, CA on November 6, 1952. Aida spent several years in Dallas, TX and 15 years in New Orleans, LA before moving to Brighton in 2006. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting. Aida loved to travel and was a dedicated mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter, Olga Acevedo of Brighton; brother, Rafael Escalante and sister, Soledad Escalante, both of New Orleans, LA; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parent and her husband, Carlos, in 1994.
