Agnes Thorsen Avera, 92, of Westminster, died Sunday, February 26, 2017, at Longview Nursing Home. Born August 25, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Otto August Thorsen and Clara Tahlia Thorsen. Her husband Ross P. Avera, died in 1999.
She graduated from Towson University with a Bachelor’s degree Magna Cum Laude. Before retiring she was the Director of Purchasing at Towson University. She was a member of the Sons of Norway.
Survived by daughter Linda A. Walker and husband Evan of Westminster, son Richard K. “Rick” Avera and wife Andrea of White Marsh, a sister Grace Johnson of Long Island, NY, 4 grandchildren; Frank J. Filemyr III and wife Tiffany, Kathryn T. Bolton and husband Dan, David R. Filemyr, Elliott Walker and wife Tiffany Covell, 7 great-grandchildren Sara, Emma, Aubrey, Thomas, Tristen, Asher and Leland.
The family would like to thank the staff at Longview Nursing Center for the gentle and kind care that Agnes received for the last 10 years.
