Layton, Utah -Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother , and friend Adelaide May Lewis Collins passed away February 21, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Joseph and Edna McCourtney Lewis on January 17, 1921 in Jerusalem, Maryland.

She married Richard Collins on August 6, 1944; they were later sealed in the Los Angeles Temple.

She served her country honorably during WWII as 1st Lieutenant in the US Army Air Corp as a registered nurse. Nursing came natural to her. Later she worked as an RN at Mills Memorial Hospital in San Mateo, CA and McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden, UT.

Adelaide was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a faithful visiting teacher.

Her family was the most important thing to her. She loved to make sure everyone was happy and full while sitting around the kitchen table. Mom always loved a good game of phase-10!

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers, daughter, Kathy Amesquita; and grandson, Dane Curry. She is survived by her children; Michael (Mary Ann) Collins, Sharon (Steven) Grigg, Mark (Barbara) Collins, Mary (Wendell) Curry; 18 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild; and sister, Mary Silling Joppa, MD.
