Ada Gotzinger Wilson passed away of natural causes Thursday, Feb 16th surrounded by her loving husband, Joe, and family at her home on Slippy Creek outside of White Bird where she had lived for the past 59 years.

On June 2, 1916, Ada was born on the family ranch in Pollock Idaho to Elgie & Otto Gotzinger. She attended Brushy Flats Grade School on the Salmon River and then went to high school in Cottonwood at St. Gertrude’s Academy, graduating in 1934.

Ada met the love of her life, Joe Wilson, during school. They were married December 27, 1934 in Grangeville Idaho and recently celebrated their 77th wedding anniversary.

Ada was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, one brother and one grandson. She is survived by a large family starting with her four children: Loretta Herman (Robert) of Pollock; Rita Roakey (Dean) of Riggins; Forrest Wilson (Joyce) of White Bird and Judy Dillon (John, deceased) of Lewiston. Their extensive family includes 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 17 great-great grandchildren and 2 great-great-great grandchildren, totaling 57 altogether.

Ada and Joe started out their life together in Baker City Oregon where Joe milked cows for $40/month and breakfast; frequently Ada helped milk the 32 head of cows. After living in Richland Oregon for a while in 1935, they moved to Cornucopia Oregon where Joe worked underground in the gold and silver mine. In 1936 they moved back to Idaho where Joe worked at the Golden Anchor Mine out of Burgdorf . In the fall of 1952, with their four children, Ada and Joe bought the home on Slippy Creek outside of White Bird where they lived together until her death.
