Aaron K. Warren, M.D., 76, of Vandalia, died peacefully Wednesday, May 15, 2013, in his residence in the presence of his family. Aaron was born June 30, 1936 in Pulaski, Tennessee to Leonard and Bessie (Hill) Warren. He married Margaret Jane Fites August 18, 1957 in Greensburg, Ohio. She survives. He served 24.5 years in both the Michigan and Ohio Army National Guards from 1964 until 1989.
He was commissioned as a First Lieutenant, Medical Corps officer – retired as a Brigadier General, commanding the 112th Medical Brigade (Ohio Army National Guard). He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Zoe Scout Hadfield. Dr. Warren was always active in the community and his church. He practiced medicine in the Cassopolis (Cass Clinic) and Niles (Pawating – Lakeland Hospital) area communities for approximately 32 years (1964 to 1996), specializing in family practice and emergency room medicine.
He started the Emergency Department at Pawating Hospital in the early 1970’s and served as Chief of Staff. He was the physician for the Cass County Medical Care Facility for approximately 30 years and served as the Cass County Medical Examiner.”Doc” Warren grew up on a dairy farm in Tennessee and raised Christmas trees and buffalo in Cass County for over twenty years.
He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, snow-mobiling, and traveling. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren (especially eating popsicles and ice cream).Doc will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of over fifty-five years, Margaret “Peggy” (Fites) Warren of Vandalia; two daughters, Diane (Ken) Rau of Hamilton, Debra (S. Derek) Hadfield of Albion; one son, Dwaine (Cindy) Warren of Jones; five grandchildren, Ken Rau, Peter Rau, Sarah Warren, Samuel Warren, Zane Hadfield.
