Zofia Szewczyk, 83, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 30th, 2022 at Hartford Hospital surrounded by her family. Zofia was the beloved wife of the late Jan Szewczyk. She was born in Poland, daughter of the late Jan & Anna (Ostrowska) Justynski. Zofia came to the United States in 1961 and was a long time resident of New Britain. She was formerly employed by The Stanley Works for over 20 years. Zofia was a caring mother whose strength, devotion and love will be dearly missed by her daughters. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, gardening, trips to the beach, and especially spending time with her family and friends, and helping others. Zofia was also a very talented seamstress who sewed for her family and friends. She was a devout parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, and member of Klub Katolicki Niewiast i Panien and Sacred Heart Ladies Guild. Zofia will be deeply missed by all. A loving mother and sister, she is survived by her daughters: Alicja Lemieux and her husband David of Vernon, CT and Magdalena Szewczyk of New Britain, CT; her siblings: Stanislaw, Jadwiga, Krystyna and Marian and their families, all of Poland; niece Malgorzata and her family of Chicago, IL; and extended family in Poland.
