Zitra C. Hurt 93 of Summitville, IN stepped into the presence of Jesus peacefully Saturday, July 31, 2021, with her family by her side. Zitra, a loving, caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend was proud of her Christian heritage and most of all loved her Lord and Savior.
She deeply loved her family and gave sound advice to each of them as they grew into adults. She enjoyed crocheting, journaling was a big part of her life as well. Loved bird watching, the turtle doves, her flower gardening, quilting and was an excellent cook. She loved to shop for clothes and shoes and being with her family most of all. She attended the Back Creek Wesleyan Church and the Fairmount Wesleyan Church. In previous years, she worked at RCA, a cook at the Gaston Nursing Home and the Fairmount Nursing Home. After retiring, her most favorite of all was being a homemaker for her family.
She dearly loved her husband Donald Hurt whom she married on December 24, 1948, and he preceded her in death on December 5, 2004. She along with her husband founded and owned Hurt’s Pallet Repair and Sales of Summitville, Indiana.
Zitra is survived by 3 daughters; Linda Hurt, Fairmount, IN Sherry (Jim) Justus, Summitville, IN and Patty (Andy) Byrd, Summitville, IN 6 Grandchildren; Brandy (Josiah) Robbins, Fairmount, Joshua (Lacey) Jarvis, Alexandria, IN Britney Hickerson, San Diego, CA Cortney Byrd, Summitville, IN J.J (Jocelyn) Justus, Westfield, IN and Demi Justus, Summitville, IN 5 Great Grandchildren; Alyson and Rylee Robbins, Layla and Lennox Jarvis, and Luna Justus. Sister; Anna Sue (Stanley) Brown, Edmonton, KY Brother-in-law; L.D. (Bettie) Hurt, Fairmount, IN Sister-in-law; Betty Lou (Donald) Robertson, Glasgow, KY Several Nieces and Nephews.
The family would like to thank her special caretakers; Debbie Webb, Patti Miller, and Cathy Blalock. Zitra is preceded in death by her husband, parents, granddaughter, Courtney Hughes, great-grandson; Landon James Robbins, sister Berniece Thinnes, and her beloved pet, Toto.
