Mother Zelma Cunningham, 86, of Buford, Georgia, transitioned to her heavenly home on Friday, May 14, 2021, after an extended illness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mrs. Minnie V. Cook and Mr. Dired Cantrell; a daughter, Mrs. Gloria A. Smith; and her loving husband Mr. Walter Cunningham.
Mrs. Cunningham is survived by her children, Kathleen Fortson, Mary, Walter Jr., James, and Maxwell (Rhonda) Cunningham, all of Buford, Georgia; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She also leaves one brother, Mr. Dennis Cantrell, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives to cherish her memories.
During her illness, she had caregivers that she and the family loved dearly, Mrs. Dorothy Lott, Ms. Dana Sanders and Ms. Wanda Nuckles. Mrs. Cunningham was born on February 23, 1936 in Buford, Georgia. She received her education in the Buford School System.
She was a homemaker, devoted mother, sister and aunt. Mother Zelma loved cooking and talking on the phone with her friends. She was a member of the Union Baptist Church in Buford until her health declined. She took great pride in being on the Mother’s Board.
