Zachary T. “Zach” Shook, 20, of Goshen, passed away peacefully at Elkhart General Hospital following a courageous year-long battle with cancer on Monday, Nov. 20, 2017. He was born Apr. 23, 1997 in Elkhart to Christopher J. “Chris” and Timi L. (Kelly) Shook of Goshen.
Also surviving is his daughter Paisyn R. Stutzman-Shook of Elkhart; brothers Joshua Kelly and Jeffrey Parker, Jr., both of Elkhart, and Peyton Shook of Goshen; grandparents Sue-Nell Lowe and Carolyn Shook, both of Elkhart, Cliff (Sherri) Shook of South Bend and Timothy (Shari) Kelly of Cotati, CA; great grandmothers Dorothy Kelly and Melba Benedict, both of Elkhart, special friend Justice Dumas and her son Kingston Stump, and his life-long inseperatible best friend, Jeffery “Mills” Miller. Preceding Zach in death are great grandfathers Kenneth Kelly and Paul Bechtel and grandfather Karol “Jug” Lowe.
Zach worked as the kitchen manager at Wings, Etc. for nearly 4 years until his illness required an early retirement. Quiet and laid back, Zach never let anything get the best of him, including his illness, and he enjoyed sharing his dry sense of humor and pragmatic but peaceful state of mind with those who were closest to him. His mature and responsible outlook on his life served as an inspiration to all. He was an avid Chicago Bears and Fighting Irish fan, and loved listening to Lil’ Wayne, but the true love in his life was his daughter, Paisyn.
