Zachary Smith Madison, 10, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2015 at home as his time on Earth was complete. He was with his brother, Royal, who made a courageous effort to save his life.
Zach was born July 9, 2004 in Boise to Roger and Alyse Madison. He was a very thin little guy in his early days but grew up quickly and became a very solid kid, fun to wrestle with and beat on … “3 pats and a squeeze” we called it! Zach was cautiously adventurous and loved life to the fullest! In his 10 short years he learned to ski, snowboard, wakeboard, surf, longboard, fly fish and was an accomplished football and basketball player. On his 10th birthday last summer, he rode the Spin Cycle roller coaster at Silverwood 10 times with his friend, Ashley Erekson.
Zach was an angel in a little boy’s body. His radiant smile and bright eyes warmed everyone he met instantly. He often uttered the words “Can I help?” when there was a project to be done. He loved helping people and was known by his school mates at Joplin to be kind and a champion of the little guy. He was one of the hardest working 10 year olds you will ever meet!
He loved anything with a ball but football and basketball were his favorite sports to play. He was very excited for his upcoming season in Optimist for RST Fundraising and he wanted to help his team make the playoffs. Zach was a young but very passionate member of Bronco Nation! He loves the Blue and Orange and took pride in defending his Broncos! When he wasn’t playing football with his friends or shooting baskets, his favorite thing to do was coach girls fast pitch softball with his dad; very special thanks to the Idaho Shock softball family for their love and kindness to Zach.
He is survived by his parents; sisters, Lauren and Victoria; brother, Royal; grandparents, Doug and Opal Madison (Boise) and Vae Don and Maureen Smith (Las Vegas) and a small stadium full of uncles, aunts, cousins and dear friends.
Zach was a special kid and he will be missed beyond comprehension by many, especially his family. We love you Zachy and we know that through the blessings of the Priesthood our family is sealed for time and all eternity – God be with you till we meet again, we can’t wait!
