DURHAM-Zachary J. Hunter- On December 15, 2013, we tragically lost our beloved Zach, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Durham, NC.

Zachary was born on August 12, 1983, the youngest of three children to David and Roberta (Brown) Hunter. He was raised and educated in Whitesboro and an accomplished athlete excelling in football, basketball, and baseball. He has resided in Durham, NC for the past four years. Zach was currently working at the Preston Wood Country Club as a Greens Keeper and was attending the University of North Carolina, majoring in Agronomy, to pursue his career in the field of Golf Course Management.

Zach was a fun loving kid who loved sports. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and NY Yankees fan and loved his “Cuse” basketball, but his love for his family and friends was unparalleled. He was a wonderful son, beloved brother and doting uncle to his nieces and nephews. He would love to have the boys over for a game or to watch WWE. Zach’s favorite pastime was golf, although he loved to play softball and basketball, nothing compared to a round of golf with his dad. He was very proud of his home and always loved to entertain. He and April were always the best of hosts and made everyone who entered their home feel special.

Zachary leaves behind him many people who love him and will carry out his memory. He will be sadly missed by his beloved fiancé, April Michelle Johnson, April was the true love of Zachary’s life. He also leaves behind his mother, Roberta “Bert” Hunter, of Durham, Zachary was her last born, her baby boy, and she cherished the time she had with him and loved him with her entire heart; his father, David James Hunter, of Utica, Zach and his father were the best of friends and there was not a day that went by that Zach did not talk to his dad; a beloved step-mother, Thalia Hunter, of Utica; two sisters, Jennifer Hunter Trotta, of Chapel Hill, and Catherine Hunter Ryczeck, of Durham; brothers-in-law, Joe Ryczeck and Frank Trotta Jr.; also the “Fab Five”, his nieces and nephews who meant the world to him, David, Leah and Abree Ryczeck and Douglas Rando and Frankie Trotta; step-sister and step-brothers, Carin and Frank Crouse, Gary Velletto and Antonio DeSantis; grandparents, Bob and Joan Brown, of Kissimmee and Caroline Francis, of Frankfort; and many aunts, uncles and cousins who were near and dear to his heart, especially Shawn Radley and Todd Hunter. Last but not least was his faithful companion “Sarge”. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Andrew and Catherine Hunter; his uncle, Barry Hunter; and his brother, Douglas Brown.
