Ms. Yvonne Kay “Von” Bogart, 69, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at “Elkhart general Hospital” on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at 3:55 pm following an illness. She was born in South Bend on August 24, 1951 and was the daughter of the late Robert D. and Jeanette E. (Fenner) Bogart, Sr.

Among those surviving are her brothers, George (Kathy) Bogart of South Bend and Bob (Carolyn) Bogart, Jr. of Mishawaka; sisters Kathy (Michael) Gerndt of Elkhart and Charlene (John) Mullins of Oklahoma, her fiancée Varry “Gus” Brown of Elkhart, as well as a loving host of nieces, nephews, half brothers and sisters, extended family, and good friends. Von’s siblings Randy and Jack Bogart, and Joyce Rodriguez all precede her in death.

Von worked many years as a care provider and CNA in the local healthcare industry. Although Von was a private person, she was in no way anti-social. She simply adored having her family around her whenever the occasion warranted and absolutely loved children. She was also very community oriented; she knew her neighbors well and would look out for them as any good neighbor should. She also loved volunteering within her community and was always the first to help out with the mentally challenged, disabled or with the local food banks and soup kitchen.  It was said that Von didn’t have much, but what she DID have she’d share with you in a heartbeat if you needed it.

She also has a thing for rhythm and blues, hip-hop and Motown music, and loved to jam out to R. Kelly, Usher, Aaron Neville and such.
