Yvonne Geraldine “Jerry” Crowell age 90, entered this life on October 6, 1924 in Napoleon, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Earl Clark “Percy” and Lelah Marie Rohlfing Brown.
Jerry’s family told that their mother had eloped and married their father, Warren Crowell on June 30, 1946 in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Shortly after their marriage, she and her husband along with another couple, were the first to start the CP Tavern located in Napoleon. One of the main occupations that she did in her life was working as a school bus driver for the Jac-Cen-Del School Corporation from the early 1960’s to the late 1980’s.
This became a family tradition as her husband and two of her children also were school bus drivers for Jac-Cen-Del. Another job that she also did was hauling water to many people in Ripley County and surrounding areas. Her children laughed saying that she would put the girls in the front seat, buckle them up, tell them to sit still and away they’d go. This is how she helped to make a living to raise her family. Her family very proudly expressed that even though their mother and dad really never made much money, she was a wizard at managing money and always seemed to have enough to raise their four children.
