Yvonne Fournelle Mockler, age 78 of Clarksburg, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Mon General Hospital with her family by her side.
Yvonne was born on April 25, 1936 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of the late Romain and Bernadine Nabbefeld Fournelle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 10 year old son, Michael G. Mockler. She was a member of the Tuesday Club, The Goff Plaza Garden Club, and was a volunteer counselor for the Navy Relief Society for young Marines and sailors with problems. She received a letter of Commendation from the American Red Cross for her development and supervision of the Camp Pendleton Base Volunteer Hospital Program. She attended Maryville College of the Sacred Heart and was a member of the Alumni Association of Maryville University. Yvonne enjoyed painting and gave many of her works to her family and friends over the years.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, retired Marine Colonel Edward M. Mockler; daughters and sons-in-law, Beth and John Poe of Atlanta, Georgia and Laura and Steve Schultz of Ashburn, Virginia; grandsons Ryan and Connor Poe of Atlanta, Georgia and Steven Schultz of Ashburn, Virginia; sister Michele Bollwerk of Dalton, Georgia; brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Doris Fournelle of St. Louis, Missouri; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gary and Rita Mockler of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and several nephews.
Yvonne has resided with her family in Missouri, Virginia, North Carolina, Morocco, Washington D.C., Hawaii, Rhode Island, California and finally saving the best for last, West Virginia for the last 24 years. She loved shopping, shopping, crossword puzzles and shopping. To say that she was an elegant dresser would have been an understatement.
Yvonne’s main attribute was KINDNESS to everyone. She loved people and people loved her!
