Yvonne B. Walther, 92, of Moravian Village in Bethlehem and formerly of Yardley, Lower Bucks Co., Pa. passed away, Monday, February 6, 2017 in her home. She was the wife of Frederick Walther who died on, March 10, 2007.
Born in Bethlehem, she was the only child of the late Benjamin J. and Culah (Boyer) Sturtevant. Yvonne was a graduate of Moravian Preparatory School, Class of 1942, the College of William and Mary and received her Masters of Library services from Columbia University in 1947. She worked for St. Luke’s Hospital from 1951 to 1952 and again from 1957 to 1958. Yvonne was a Children’s Librarian at Bethlehem Public Library from 1958 to 1961 and Skelton Branch Head of the Trenton Public Library for 18 years until retiring in 1989. She previously worked as a Children’s Book Editor-Westminster Press, E.P. Dutton and Harper & Rowe. She served on the Advisory Committee of Mercer College for Library Technical Assistance. Yvonne was a member of the Cathedral Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem.
Survivors: surviving is her daughter, Cynthia Gower and her husband, Wayne of Ridgeley, MD and her son, John W. Flenner and his wife, Patricia Jones of Bethlehem, 3 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Gower.
